Mr. Danny Mack Keen, age 79 of Mt. Olive, NC passed away Tuesday morning January 14th at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. A visitation will be held Friday, January 17th from 10 till 11 a.m. and funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove, NC. Burial will be in the Keen Family Cemetery immediately afterwards.
Danny was born March 17, 1945 in Wayne County to the late Paul and Estelle Fields Keen. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Glenn Keen; sisters, Laverna Thornton and Nell Ray Whitaker. Danny is survived by his brother, Sherwood Keen of Mt. Olive; sisters, Jean Fletcher of Elkton, Va. and Joyce Guine of Fayetteville; step children, Brian and Kim Parrish, Tanya and Scott Betts. Step grandchildren, Kyle and Hanna Betts, Donny and Patty Betts, Josie Parrish, step great granddaughter: Rosanna Betts. Danny is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousin and best friend, Henry Fields; long time friends, Hampton Giddens, Barbara Calton and husband Wayne.
Danny was a retired electrician, He enjoyed helping people. He was a good friend and a "good samaritan". He loved animals, especially dogs and cats. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, Benson.
