Danford McLamb, 92, of Dunn passed away at Wake Medical Center on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Harnett County on June 21, 1932 to the late Arthur McLamb and Ora Lee Moore McLamb.
Danford joined the Navy and served in the Korean War.
For several years, he worked at a telephone company as a foreman. He then ventured into owning his own business in Benson known as Dan’s New & Used Furniture - which he lovingly referred to as antiques and junk. Danford also was a well-known auctioneer for Mouths of the South Auction Company. He loved to auction. He was auctioning up until May of this year, until he took off to take care of his loving wife, Margaret.
On his down time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling to bluegrass festivals to listen and enjoy the music. He loved bluegrass.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Brian and Arthur McLamb; sisters, Ida Mae McLamb and Rachel Stewart; and two grandchildren.
He is survived and greatly loved by his wife of 68 years, Margaret E. McLamb; son, Danny McLamb and wife Donna; grandchildren, Deanna M. Batson and husband Nathan, and Devin McLamb; great grandchildren, Wesley David and Waylin Dan Batson.
Visitation will be held at Dunn Funeral Home on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 1:50 pm with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Dunn Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Harnett Devotional Gardens Cemetery of Dunn.
Mr. Danford was a long time member of Leslie Methodist Church
He was greatly loved and will always be missed.
