Clarence Turnage, Jr.

Clarence Turnage, age 89, of Raleigh but formerly of Erwin, passed away after an illness on April 27, 2026.  

He was born in Harnett County, NC on April 20th, 1937 to the late Clarence Turnage, Sr. and Mable Grice Turnage.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Elfrieda Turnage, of the home.

He served in the US Navy in younger years and then worked in the mailroom at Merrill Lynch Finance Company.

Clarence faithfully attended the Erwin Methodist church for many, many years.  He was a musician and often played his beloved saxophone at church services and with a gospel band.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville, NC at 3:00 pm.  Reverend Kent Miller of the Erwin Methodist Church will officiate.
