Clarence Edward "Eddie" Jernigan, 78, of Goldsboro and formerly of Dunn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at the Greendale Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Snow Hill, NC. A celebration of Clarence's life will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Dunn Funeral Home in Newton Grove with a visitation at 10:00am - 11:00am with funeral service following at 11:00am. A private family burial will take place in the Phillips Family Cemetery.
Clarence was born on April 15, 1947 in Wayne County to the late Clarence W. Jernigan and Mary Belle Jernigan. After graduating from Southern Wayne High School, he proudly served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Following his active duty service, he continued his dedication to his country by transitioning to the Army National Guard, in which he retired from.
Throughout his life, Clarence worked in several trades, including electrical work and road construction, before retiring from CC Mangum. After retiring, Clarence served in the DAV Chapter 74 and volunteered at his church, Grace Chapel Church.
Clarence was a devoted husband to Sally Jean Jernigan, with whom he shared many loving years until her passing in 2011.
He is preceded in death by his two sisters Joanne Harper and Elma Mae Bass, and a nephew, Sammy Jernigan. He is survived by two daughters, Christy Raynor (Thomas) and Cynthia Bauser (Terry); four step-daughters Debbie Johnson, Brenda Bonner, Sheilia Blackman, Sandy McLean (Reggie), one step-son Earl Blackman, Jr. (Amber). He has four grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren, two great granchildren and ten great step-grandchildren.
