Bobby Ray Byrd

Bobby Ray Byrd, 76, of Angier North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2023, at Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh. He was born in Harnett County on September 2, 1946, to the late William and Lillie Byrd.

Bobby spent 20 years as a mechanic at Fort Bragg. He married his high school sweetheart, Connie Barbour Byrd. He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, and grandpa.
He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, making birdhouses, mantle and wall clocks, wooden tractors, along with Highway Shepherd boxes which contained gospel preaching recordings that truckers could take for free to listen to on the road.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his brother Roy Byrd and his sister Flora Lee Byrd Young, his son Travis Byrd and grandson Tyler Ryals.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years Connie Byrd
Daughters Sheila Byrd of Angier and Angela Byrd of Benson.
Grandchildren Jessica Ryals, Hailey Dallas and husband, Ben, Ashley Woolard and husband, Tony.
Great grandchildren Avah and Ezra Dallas.

Brother Gerald Byrd of Garner

The funeral service will be on January 9, 2023, at West and Dunn Funeral Home in Benson, NC.
Visitation for Family and friends will be from Noon to 1:00 followed by the service at the chapel in the funeral home.
The graveside internment ceremony will be at Fellowship Community Cemetery at the corner of Old Fairground Rd and Zacks Mill Rd.

The family thanks everyone who has helped this past year through Bobby's decline. Especially Mary Myers Barbour who helped so much.
