Billy Ray Johnson, 86, of Erwin, passed away Friday night, Nov. 24, 2023 at Highsmith Rainey Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Avery Johnson and mother, Lesia Wood, both of Erwin. Billy had 12 brothers and sisters, all now deceased except one sister.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons, Andy Ray Johnson (wife Judy) and Jonathan Gilbert Johnson; Sister, Peggy Johnson of Erwin and also, grandchildren, Donald Woodall Jr of Tennessee, Jason Woodall of Benson, and Brian Woodall (wife Betsy) of Benson.
Billy was a skilled carpenter and loved building things. He worked for the Civil Service for over thirty years. He was a faithful member of the Erwin Lion's Club for over thirty years, serving in many positions including president, secretary, treasurer, and more. He enjoyed Nascar racing and football. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Pleasant Memory Baptist Church in Coats for twenty plus years.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 1:00pm at Erwin Memorial Park in Erwin, NC.
