Betty Strickland Creel, 83, was born on July 1, 1937 in Four Oaks, NC to Willis Arthur and Edith Blackmon Strickland. She grew up in Johnston County, NC. Betty moved to Greenville, SC. In 1983. Her most recent employment was with Bob Jones University before retiring after 29 years of service. She was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Taylor's South Carolina. Betty loved spending time with her family. Loved to travel with her friends and family and the BJU Retirees. She loved to read, collect bells and do crossword puzzles.
Betty passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at The Blake at Hollingsworth Park Assisted Living after a long battle with Alzheimer's
A graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 1:00 pm at Barbour’s Chapel A. C. Church Cemetery, Four Oaks
Marty Lee will be officiating the service.
Survivors of Betty include her children; Judy Creel of Knightdale, NC., Joyce Creel of Greenville, SC., grandchildren; Charles Nowlin (Karen), Shannon Pegues, Melissa Fafard (Matthew) and Alexis Mateo, 5 great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; Willis Arthur Strickland and Edith Blackmon Strickland, sons; Randy Nowlin, J. David Creel, brothers; Rother, Ralph, Roby, Robert and Raymond Strickland, sisters; Luna Mae Daughtry, Ruby Florence Wyatt and Annie Ruth Holley.
***Betty will lie in state at West & Dunn Funeral Home in Benson on Tuesday, March 9, from 1 to 4 pm with no family present***
