Bertha Mae (Lee) Faircloth

Bertha Lee Faircloth, 89, of Erwin, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1934, to Dennison and Rosa Lee. Bertha was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, and she incorporated that into her motherhood.

She married Paul Luther Faircloth on November 3, 1948, and raised six rambunctious boys. As a mother, she was generous, loving, and kind. She would always seem to look at the brighter things in life.

Bertha worked for over 30 years at Wellons Candy Factory, was a candy striper at the Erwin Hospital, and was the manager of Faircloth’s Paint and Body Shop. Without Bertha’s guidance, the shop would have failed, and the workers would have taken advantage of their breaks.
 

However, her favorite job has been being a grandmother and great grandmother. Bertha loved to spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren whenever she got the chance to. They were her pride and joy.

Bertha loved to bake cakes, garden, watch Hallmark movies, and spend time with her family. She remained a faithful Christian for her entire life and was a member of East Erwin Baptist Church.

Bertha was proceeded in death by her husband, Paul, Son, Donald, mother, Rosa Lee, father, Dennison Lee, and Sister, Lillian Williams.

Bertha is survived by her children, Jerry and wife Kathy Sue of Dunn, Terry and wife, Lynn of Dunn, Ronald “Pete” of Raleigh, Paul Junior and wife Pam of Dunn, and Freddie and wife Kathy Ann of Erwin, her brother, Dennison Lee Jr of Vidalia, GA, her 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a sincere appreciation to Bertha’s caregivers, Lisa Lucas, Jamie Baucom, Alberta Dixon, Brandy Bridges, and Brittney Sills for the countless hours they spent caring for her.

We know that God is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms, where she belongs. She will be sorely missed by those on earth.

There will be a visitation from 6pm until 8pm on Monday, October 30, 2023, at West and Dunn Funeral Home located at 904 Lucas Street, Erwin, North Carolina 28339.

The service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 1pm at West and Dunn Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Erwin Memorial Park.
