Zilphia Tart

A life taken too quickly, Zilphia Tart became an angel in heaven on October 30, 2018.
Known to most as “Zee,” she cherished her family and supported her friends and loved ones endlessly. 
 

Zee was the youngest of nine children. She was loved dearly by her 8 brothers and sisters as well as her 37 nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College and taught for many years at Claxton Elementary in Greensboro, NC, while making lifelong friends.
 

Zee was the devoted wife of the Honorable Jerry G. Tart (deceased) and mother to two daughters, Laura and Rachel. She treasured her sons-in-law Robert and Jack and was the proud grandmother of Hannah and Jackson. 
Zee resided in Greensboro, NC for more than 50 years. In that time, she volunteered countless hours though Greensboro beautification programs, school organizations and her church. 
 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Newton Grove United Methodist Church.  Anyone wishing to pay their respects can do so at West & Dunn Funeral Home, Newton Grove on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 11 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. 
 

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to: The Healing Gardens at Cone Health Cancer Center at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC or Newton Grove United Methodist Church in Newton Grove, NC.
 

Zee was a pillar of strength throughout her entire life. She organized and planned events with perfection; left no stone unturned and lived her life fully surrounded by family and friends. Heaven has received a true gift.
