Our loving mother and grandmother went to meet our Lord early Sunday morning, on August 6,
2017. Talora was born on June 6, 1923 in Northwood, Iowa to the late Arthur B. and Thelma
Anderson. At a young age they moved to Chicago, Illinois. She graduated high school and went
on to secretarial school becoming a stenographer and legal secretary. She met and later
married, the love of her life, James B. Linskey. They met at a USO dance held at the YMCA, in
Chicago, shortly after World War II. They are survived by three children: Terrance Linskey and
wife Lee Carey; Kathleen Linskey; and Lawrence Linskey and wife Julie. She is also survived by
six grandchildren, Elizabeth Carey-Linskey, Peter Linskey and wife Kara, Teri Johnson, Kristy
Watson and husband Kevin, Megan Linskey, and Nicole Linskey. Talora also had two
great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Jake Watson. Talora also has three surviving sisters, Doris
Kyllingstad, Shirley Bartelt, and Arma Sommerdorf. She was preceded in death by her brother,
Arthur B. Anderson, Jr.
Talora moved to N.C. in 1988, after she retired from Boatman’s Bank in St. Louis, as a legal
secretary in the trust department. Talora loved her family and enjoyed many friends. She
delighted in painting and participated in the N.C. Senior games, winning several medals. She
overcame a great fear and learned how to swim in her seventies, enjoying the sport for many
years. She loved to read and especially liked courtroom dramas. She attended church regularly
at First Baptist Church in Erwin, and loved the open and welcoming friendships. Talora was a
soul that found Christ and demonstrated Christ’s love to all those around her. She was an
inspiration, a blessing, and a role model.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt note of gratitude to her physicians and healthcare
providers for the exceptional care she received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to
First Baptist Church in Erwin. A memorial service will take place later this month to allow loved ones from out of state to attend.
A graveside service will take place in St. Louis, Missouri at a later date.
