"Irene Barefoot, a Devout Christian Woman , devoted wife, mother and grandmother"

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Irene loved to laugh and enjoyed being surrounded by people. She always looked forward to her Sunday visitors and weekend visits with her best friend. In earlier years, Irene loved to cook and bake, always adding a pinch of sugar to satisfy her love of sweets! She enjoyed having a crowd around the table at every opportunity. She was a very generous woman and would go hungry to make sure others were fed first.

She loved spending time outdoors working in her flowers, pulling weeds and mowing the lawn. Often times, you would find her outside helping her husband with the building of chicken coops and carts. in her spare time, she would sew and always kept a tidy home. She was a hard worker and stayed busy all the time.

She attended Jonesboro Baptist Church and was faithful in reading her bible daily. She spent countless hours as a caregiver for her daughter Wilma during her lengthy illness. In her later years. she and her husband mainly stayed at home due to his medical concerns. She was very attentive to his needs and made sure he was taken care of, once he went into a Nursing Home, she was by his side every day and night for many years. After the passing of her husband, her health gradually declining requiring assistance in her home. She had many aides who cared for her throughout her last years. She enjoyed getting to know then and making them feel as a part of the family

She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly, especially by her special dog companion, "Ollie"
