Donnie William Ray Hales, Jr., 56, of Benson passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. There will be a memorial service for Mr. Hales at Family worship Church in Smithfield, N.C., Saturday, September 28th at 2 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Lawrence Pounds, Jr.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.

Mr. Hales' survivors include his wife, Debbie G. Hales; his son, Donnie Ray Hales of Autryville; his grandchildren, Allyson, Mason, Blaise and Ayden; stepdaughters; Leslie Grove, Danielle Cherry and Morgan Williams, a brother, Wayne Hales of Benson; and his sisters, Lori Preston of Clayton and Donna Batten of Princeton.
