Bennie R. King, 77 of Newton Grove passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Mr. King's funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church in Newton Grove at 2:30 p.m.. The funeral will be officiated by the Rev. Braxton Carter and Rev. Frank Grubbs. Mr. King will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery in Newton Grove. The family will receive friends at St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, July 7, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Jean King; his daughter, Shelia Sutton and husband Tony of Newton Grove; his granddaughters, Ashley Sutton Medlin and husband Wil of Four Oaks and Victoria Sutton Spell and husband Matthew of Clinton; brothers, William King of Clinton and Elwood King of Ayden.
Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Clara Mae King; a sister, Norma Jean Spell; and a brother, Wesley King.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Children Hospitals or St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. King was a member of St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church and served as a deacon in the church for many years. He was also a member of many organizations Woodmen of the World, Mill Creek Lodge 125, Eastern Star 267 and was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. Mr. King also served in the National Guard. Mr. King will receive Masonic Rites at the cemetery.
