Lynn Porter King

Edna "Lynn" Porter King, age 74, went to her heavenly home on April 17, 2024, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loved ones.  Lynn was born May 21, 1949, to the late Barfield Haywood and Ruth Raynor Porter of Newton Grove, NC.

Lynn married the love of her life, Steven King, in August of 1970.  As Steve served in full-time ministry, Lynn was a constant by his side as the ultimate Pastor's wife.  Her compassion and love for her Lord and others was always visible in her daily walk.  Lynn's love for beautiful flowers, birds and animals was clearly seen in their backyard and around their home.  This love was particularly evident in the numerous bird feeders available!  Her gentle spirit and sweet smile will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Joseph and Betty King and her brother-in-law, Laurie Jackson.  Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 53 years, Steven King; siblings, Janet (John) Bryan of Wilmington, David (Phyllis) Porter of Raleigh, Carol Jackson of Pink Hill, Debbie (Glenn) Thornton of Newton Grove; brother-in-law, Stanley (Tina) King of Faison; sister-in-law, Donna (John) Threet of Lehigh, Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at West and Dunn Funeral Home, 503 Raleigh St., Newton Grove, NC 28366 on Friday, April 19 from 6:00-8:00pm.  A graveside service will be held at Wayne Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2925 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333, on Saturday, April 20, at 1:00pm.  Officiating the service will be Reverend Stanley King and Reverend Josh Clark.
