Annie Ruth (Barefoot) Harris

Annie Ruth Barefoot Harris, 88, of Mount Olive, went to be with her heavenly Father on April 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. 

Born on May 1, 1935 to the late Nattie Barefoot and Nessie Brock Barefoot, Annie enjoyed playing a good game of bingo. She also was very creative when it came to creating unique pieces of jewelry with beads. Annie loved M&M candies, shopping, and gardening. She made sure her home was swept every night before bed and loved to clean. If she saw a coin on the ground, you can bet she would be picking it up. Her nickname was “Operator Annie”, as she enjoyed communicating with her loved ones on her telephone. She enjoyed traveling even if she did not know the destination, it was about the journey. If you visited her, Annie would always bless you with a gift to take with you. 

Annie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Harris; son, Linwood Harris; siblings, Louise Hargrave, Alice Jarvis (Junior), Pearl McCullen (Robert), Earl Barefoot, Nona Belle Thompson (George), Jackie Barefoot, Stuart Barefoot and Glinda Harkett (Mike).

She is survived by her loving daughters, Carolyn Thornton (Tony) and Barbara Barefoot (Ricky); grandson, Derrick Barefoot; brother, Larry Gene Barefoot; sister-in-laws, Miriam Barefoot, Margie Harris, Hazel Mills, and Dean Weaver; and many special nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm ~ 8:00 pm at West & Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Manley Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive. 

Annie will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery of Newton Grove.
